A piece of Cake
September 12th, 2011
Is choosing a cake really a piece of cake? With so many talented cake artists in the scene, creating the perfect centerpiece could be one frustrating exercise. We’ve come up with a couple of variations for you. Are you the romantic, playful or practical couple? We’ve tapped top cake designers to transform personalities into cakes. Here’s what we’ve come up with:
All Lined Up
Stripes in multi-colors mixed with bands of black make for a playful, yet mod dessert option.

Intricate Icing
This unusual combination of scalloped and circular layers give this cake a modern feminine touch. At first glance, the design reflects simple elegance. Get a closer look however and note the detailed and symmetric icing beadwork akin to that of a designer’s dress.

Lacy Paisley
The rich paisley pattern which has its origins in Persia and India is interpreted by Judy Uson, the Cake Artist. Its intricate design is delicately hand-piped with pink and taupe icing to create a romantic fondant showpiece.

On the Dot
Overlapping circles and spheres of different sizes in bubbly orange hues convey a fun-loving couple, eager to start their new life with laughter and high spirits.
