Mission: Find Lost Ring
November 22nd, 2011

The one ring
Brian McGuinn had thought it was all over when he lost his wife’s custom-made engagement ring. The bespoke ring was worth $10,000 and had a precious diamond on it. Plus all the sentimental value attached to it. It was no wonder that Brian decided to find it at all costs.
The couple retraced their steps and concluded that the only place it could’ve been was in the trash bin. His wife, Anna, handed it to him before he threw his razor. The couple was horrified to find that the sanitation worker had picked up the trash that same day. Anna made frantic calls to the Wheelabrator North Browar to arrange for the search. Brian volunteered to scour the landfill where the garbage had gone to. Luckily, the processing company had a protocol for situations like this.
They had segregated the trash into piles depending on who picked up the garbage, the neighborhood where it came from, and the time of day. Despite the organized chaos at the land fill, Brian and sanitation worker, Joe went through an overwhelming 10-foot pile of trash. After searching through it tirelessly, Brian recognized some items he had thrown away like a cup of yogurt and the razor. Hopeful that he was hot on the trail to find the ring, he kept going until he saw a familiar glinting object in the rubble–the diamond. Miraculously, he had found the ring in under an hour!
Brian expressed that it was like winning the lottery. It was a wonder that he found the tiny object in the huge landfill in Florida at all. Just goes to show that love knows no boundaries–even if it means finding the ring that started it all.
