First Thoughts for the Reception
Organizing the wedding reception may be a daunting task at first but it is really nothing more than planning a party, albeit one of the more important parties in your life.
Here are some questions to begin pondering on as you plan the ultimate evening:
- Indoors or outdoors?
- What is your idea of a perfect celebration? Is it miles away from the city with only family and dear friends by your side? Do you want a big gathering in a country club with all the titas, titos, cousins twice removed and friends of friends? Do you want to fly off to an exotic locale and honeymoon immediately? Know what you want then see if it is a realistic and practical choice for you and your fiancée.
- How many guests are you planning to have? 500 guests in a beach pavilion may not be as much fun as 500 guests in a hotel. Then again, it may be…!
- What is your budget? This includes food, drink, corkage fees etc. Some hotels offer package deals which include everything from the music, the cake and the wedding car. Also remember: out of town weddings include out of town fees from the various local suppliers.
- What theme have you been dreaming of since you were a little girl? Fairyland, Fantasyland or Goth-land? Be sure to include your fiancée in the brainstorming but take the hint if he says, “Babe, I’ll love whatever your choose!”. Above all, have fun before the party, during the party and even way after the party!
